About Rachel

Thank you for stopping by to check out Crux Psychotherapy. I am the creator and owner of Crux Psychotherapy counselling services. I am passionate about seeing individuals, couples, and families thrive where they are. We have all been created for a purpose, and I thrive to help others find that purpose. Often times, circumstances beyond our control throw us off course and interfere with our purpose. Being stuck in inefficient ways of thinking can trap us. There is power in sharing and walking with a trained mental health professional to gain new perspectives through tools and strategies that can help propel us in our search for mental health. I approach each client through a comprehensive biological, psychological, social, and spiritual approach. I strive to create a non-judgemental and safe space for each client.

I have received training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT), and Narrative Therapy. You will often find me studying and learning new methods and adding to my repertoire. I never want to stop learning. My approach is eclectic using scientific based theories that are tailored to each client. Components of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness Based Therapies among other modalities can also be found in my approach.

I am trained to work with an array of symptoms from anxiety and depression to domestic violence and abuse cases. Some of my experience includes working with PTSD symptomology as a result of trauma, self-esteem issues, suicidal ideation, and coping skills. In addition, I have worked with teens, parents, and couples with relationship difficulties.

Some of my qualifications include a Bachelors of Sociology (BaSoc) from Indiana Wesleyan University in USA and Masters in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University in Canada. I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) registration #12196, in addition, I am member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Aside from my educational experience, I have over 20 years of experience working with children, teenagers, and parents in schools, churches, and community activities. My international upbringing assists me in maintaining a culturally sensitive lens with a compassion centred focus. Journeying as a wife to my husband of 18 years and mother to our 2 teenage children is my greatest pride.
